Nomination FAQs

Nominate a young Minnesotan with a big idea or project that uses business as a tool for social change. This is an opportunity for a young person to be awarded small grants to support their entrepreneurial idea that targets a social issue they see in their community or expand a young person working in a social enterprise on career development. Changemakers that are awarded grant/seed money are paired with mentors in the social enterprise space to help them assess their needs and coach them in next steps in their career journey. Changemakers may also be working within an existing social enterprise and wanting to expand their career to make an impact.

Who Is Eligible for feature?

  • Be 16-26 years of age

  • Have an idea or working entrepreneurial endeavor that uses a market-based strategy to solve a social or environmental problem OR 

    • be working for or within an existing social enterprise

  • Ideas or projects can be at a variety of stages from early inception to functioning project or entity

  • Have partner support: whether an adult, teacher, mentor, or nonprofit organization who can speak to their work or project

Nominations are open to anyone to submit. Self-nominations are welcomed and highly encouraged!

TIMELINE

Submissions open until May, 4th, 2023.
Featured changemakers will be notified by mid-May
Showcase Celebration to take place in June 2023.

opportunities & BENEFITS

  • Be honored and recognized as a leading young changemaker in our region at Impact Showcase

  • Young Changemakers in Social Entrepreneurship recipients will receive financial support for projects/ideas ranging from $500 − $2,000.

  • Provided Changemakers that are awarded grant/seed money are paired with mentors in the social enterprise space to help them assess their needs and coach them in next steps in their career journey.

Event - Coming back June 2023

The Social Enterprise Impact Showcase will celebrate the impact and recognize the achievements of those businesses and individuals at our annual event set to take place the first week of June 2023.

We’ll be holding an in-person celebration of our honorees and community this year. Our panel of judges will select multiple young changemakers to feature and to be profiled in a short video as part of the digital celebrations, and in ongoing Social Enterprise MSP promotions. All nominees will be recognized for their outstanding work and added to the Impact List.
